TEACHING
JACK IS AN EXPERIENCED AND WELL ESTABLISHED TEACHER HAVING DEVELOPED A TEACHING PRACTICE OVER THE PAST TEN YEARS IN WHICH HE HAS WORKED EXTENSIVELY AS A TEACHER FOR PROFESSIONAL DANCERS, LECTURING AND TEACHING IN LEADING CONSERVATOIRES, UNIVERSITIES AND DANCE AGENCIES AND FACILITATOR IN VARIOUS COMMUNITY CONTEXTS INCLUDING THE DELIVERY OF CONTEMPORARY DANCE TECHNIQUE CLASSES, CHOREOGRAPHY, IMPROVISATION AND CREATIVE CLASSES AS WELL AS WORKING AS A DANCE SPECIALIST. JACK HAS WORKED FOR, TO NAME A FEW:
CONTEMPORARY TECHNIQUE
Jack's class focusses on the intelligent use of the weight of bones, muscles and blood. Swinging, shaking, folding and making space in the body, particularly in the hips and spine are all used to explore and harness the potential energy that is contained within the body. Some codified exercises, dynamic floor work, imagery and breath are utilised to prepare the body for articulate and physically demanding sequences that focus on path ways through space, moving from the centre of the body and achieving a sense of virtuosity with ease and sense.

"I found him to have integrity for his work whilst maintaining an understanding of the sensitivities of young yet experienced dancers. He was professionally reliable at all times, provided physically demanding technique classes and creatively both challenged and inspired the students and staff alike. I would have no hesitation in commissioning Jack again" Lee Lappin, Director at the Scottish School of Contemporary Dance
